When It Feels Like You're Going In Circles

Yesterday we climbed the lighthouse. 177 stairs to the top. It really wasn’t hard, but the thing about spiral staircases is you get a bit dizzy and can lose your balance in a second. Because of that they make you keep your hand on the railing. Made me think about life. Ever feel like you’re just going in circles? Exhausted, disoriented, and going nowhere? I felt a bit like that yesterday. The thing is, I WAS getting somewhere. In fact, it was a pretty epic view from the top. And life is a whole lot like that, too. Like a spiral staircase. We take little steps-a lot of them-sometimes in what feels like a confined area, fighting the disorienting feeling that causes us to question if we’re really headed anywhere, impacting anyone, or achieving anything. But if we press on, keep our minds focused on what’s above us, and keep our hand on the steady arm of our Savior, we’ll make it to the top and we will see the Light. And you know what else you can see up there? How far you’ve come.
You ARE headed somewhere, friend. Don’t lose your balance in the spiraling mundane. The Light is getting closer and it’ll be worth every step. Tighten your grip on the rail and take the next step.
