What Are You After?

What if one day as we’re “following” Jesus, He suddenly turned around and asked us “What do you seek?” How would we answer? Why ARE we following Him? Is it for His blessings? The association? The favor of God on our life? Is it to try to please Him? He asked two disciples this in John 1:37 “What do you seek? and they answered Him saying “Where are You staying?” Borderline creepy, but amazingly profound. They were seeking HIM. “Where are you going to be? Because we just want to be with You, Jesus.” Wow. I’m challenged by their devotion to the Person of God. It wasn’t about themselves at all, or what He could offer them. They were seeking Him, alone. And the beautiful thing about it is Jesus then says to them “Come and See.” He WANTS us to draw near to Him, know Him, love Him. He welcomes us to “come”- to see, experience, and stay. . I think it’s a question worth asking ourselves: “What do we seek?” May our heart’s answer ever be: “You, Jesus, we just want You.” .
